Seann moved to Greenville in 2000, where he counsels clients in all aspects of intellectual property law and looks to develop client-centric strategies for companies to focus their intellectual property and build strong IP portfolios that maximize market value. Seann has extensive experience dealing with international and U.S. patent prosecution. His practice also regularly includes dealing with trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, licensing of intellectual property rights, and rendering legal opinions on validity, infringement and enforceability of intellectual property rights, as well as litigation involving intellectual property rights.

• Considerable experience dealing with U.S. and international patent prosecution across a wide range of technologies including fuel cell technology, HIV replication inhibition, genetically engineered corn plant varieties, medical equipment and accessories for the warfighter, adhesive formulations, electronic display inks, microorganism biomass conversion to fuel, object detection and avoidance systems for vehicles, vehicle mirror and camera systems, vibration dampening systems for large exterior vehicle mirror assemblies, radioactive waste vitrification systems and storage technology, affinity membrane technology, hydroponics and various machinery, among others.

• Managing and developing patent and trademark portfolios involving hundreds of US and foreign patents and trademarks for globally operating companies, including audit and triage services to focus portfolios to assist in achieving a client’s business goals.
• Successful reexamination efforts in the United States Patent and Trademark Office invalidating a patent of a client competitor.
• Foreign patent prosecution under the Paris Convention and Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) further involving the management and collaboration with a worldwide network of trusted foreign legal service providers, developed over decades of international patent work, resulting in the issuance of patents in numerous countries around the world.
